On a trip to Japan last fall, we visited the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum near Lake Kawaguchi. One of my fellow travelers mentioned that the coffee shop’s terrace offered an incredible view of Mount Fuji, so I went to take a look—and she was absolutely right. I spent some time experimenting with different compositions, framing the mountain against the surrounding autumn colors. In the end, this image stood out to me. It’s a reminder that some of the most rewarding photographs come from moments of chance, when you simply stumble upon the perfect place.
