There are some places that, the moment you see them, you feel like they belong to another era, as if you’ve stepped into a time machine. This bridge is one of those places. It’s the second bridge along the Dovris stream, a hidden gem tucked away roughly between the villages of Kipoi and Negades. At the point on the road where you park the car, after about 100 meters the path begins; there’s no way you’d stop if you didn’t already know it was there. Almost immediately upon entering the path, you encounter the first of the two bridges. After crossing it, you start to venture deeper and deeper into the forest. Initially, the path is quite wide and open, but it gradually narrows, and the trees begin to thicken, creating a canopy overhead. The entire trail runs parallel to the river.
After a walk of less than two kilometers through dense foliage, you see the bridge, concealed within the embrace of the trees. The whole scene looks like a scene taken from a fairy tale. In many spots, moss has completely enveloped everything, including the charming stone bridge. The landscape is lush with trees, the oldest of which sport such thick, draping moss that it resembles fringes, a testament to the many years they’ve stood there. And the water flows over the smooth, rocky slabs of the streambed, creating miniature waterfalls.
On those particular days, the weather had been mostly sunny, and arriving around 11 in the morning would typically mean harsh lighting, making photography challenging for me. But that morning, there was a sparse cloud cover that worked its magic. The sun, filtering through the clouds, diffused beautifully, casting a magical glow through the dense branches of the trees.
