Last October, on a clear but very windy day, I was delighted to see the branches of my centuries-old olive tree swaying in the wind, while the enormous trunk remained perfectly still. How could I capture the essence of the scene? I used a neutral density filter and an eight-second exposure, and obtained this result. It was wonderful to see the contrast between the solidity of that enormous trunk and the fluidity of the branches and leaves, joyfully moving in the wind.
