The Grand Canyon is an amazing place to visit any time of year, but it is absolutely magical in the winter after a snowstorm.

I was on a planned photography trip to Sedona in early February when a snowstorm passed through northern Arizona. A friend offered to drive me up to the Grand Canyon, an offer I accepted in a heartbeat.

We spent the better part of the day photographing along the south rim. We had clouds, sunshine, occasional snow showers, and overall spectacular conditions.

It was a memorable experience I will never forget.

I learned the basics of photography in high school classes. My photography was mostly limited to family snapshots until circa 2001, when, due to a series of life events, I became more serious about photography. It was my primary creative outlet while I continued to work as a physician. Now that I am retired from medicine, I have much more time to pursue my passion.We are lucky enough to live in the great Pacific Northwest, which offers an endless number of photographic opportunities. That said, I have also been able to travel to some amazing places for photographic adventures.
