Going uphill is usually a good way to escape throngs of tourists. Located in the ever popular Mývatn area, the cone of Hverfjall remains accessible via footpaths to the north and south. It is a fairly short ascent to approximately 400 meters to gain the rim and its views. Despite 2024 being one of the worst summers in Iceland (weather-wise) we were fortunate enough to get a break from the rain on this early September day.
