I travelled to Iceland with one goal in mind: to finally photograph the aurora. Instead, the skies stayed quiet and the weather had a mind of its own. What I thought would be a trip focused on the northern lights turned out to be something completely different. I found myself chasing waterfalls, wandering through mist, and discovering the kind of raw beauty that only Iceland can offer.
Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon was one of those places that surprised me. The air felt still, almost suspended, and the landscape carried a depth that was hard to describe. Standing on the edge of the canyon, I felt small in the best possible way. The textures, the lines, and the way the light moved through the valley felt like echoes from another time.
I took this photo because the scene captured exactly how Iceland made me feel. It was quiet, powerful, and full of presence. Even without the aurora, I left with something better, a reminder that the moments you do not plan for often become the ones that stay with you.
