That morning, I was hitting the road for Nykvåg, a site renowned for its colonies of puffins and guillemots on the island of Langøya in the Vesterålen archipelago, Norway.

Far from the mass tourism of the Lofoten Islands, the Vesterålen remain authentic and uncrowded. The sites’ accessibility, heavy rainfall, and extremely changeable weather, even in summer, are certainly the main reasons for this.

On the way, I spotted this typical Norwegian house below the road, standing on the edge of an inlet with a majestic mountain range with steep cliffs in the background.

This isolated cottage in the middle of a lush green meadow blended perfectly into its natural surroundings, and its green roof, whose colours matched the tall grasses, immediately caught my eye.

It is a truly peaceful and inspiring place in a magnificent setting. With a little imagination, you could believe that it grew there naturally…
