Death Valley Sunset, Nevada, USA

The desert oftentimes brings to mind a colorless, stiflingly hot body of sand. The vista that was presented to me was imbued with vibrant color, textures, valleys, and mountains that came together in a multitude of eye candy. Death Valley offered the greatest variety within a given area. It ranged from pastels to vibrant colors and just an explosion of ‘painterly’ opportunities.

I set up my tripod and camera and experimented with the amount of light and shadow that I wanted to include. I turned around and found myself surrounded by vista after vista of exhilarating stimulus. The weather changed rapidly there with lows and highs and flash flooding. So, to be sure, when shooting there, come prepared with flashlights, rain gear, and patience.
