In August 2024, I attended a workshop focused on photographing lightning strikes during the monsoon season in the Southwest United States. I was excited and well-prepared for this natural spectacle, equipped with all my gear, including a lightning trigger. We started our journey at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and then traveled to the North Rim, where we stayed at the Lodge, which, unfortunately, burned down earlier this year.
During the workshop, we enjoyed clear skies and wonderful weather, but, frustratingly, there were no signs of rain! As the final day approached, there was a slight chance of rain that ultimately did not materialize. However, I decided to stay an extra day because of my long drive back to Los Angeles. Thankfully, I was rewarded with a few hours of nearby rain and lightning!
