I am always so psyched when I open my eyes upon awakening and see the fog rolling in upon the lake. It usually indicates a virtual candy land of photography, but when I came upon this site, I was gobsmacked. I had ventured on a walk through the forest and was amazed at the light filtering through the branches and bouncing off of the trees.

I set up my tripod and could not easily figure out the best angle, as they all seemed to be incredible as I kept on turning. It was truly surrealistic.

I think of my camera as a tool for seeing the extraordinary in everyday things, and for evoking nature’s inner essence. It has taught me to make the most of each moment and to experience the world with a sense of honor and patience. Once I study the movement of light and shadow, I look for symbols in nearby objects. To me, the gift of an artist’s life is the mission to live in search of that fundamental essence present in even the most familiar places.
