The Dolomites of northern Italy have been on my bucket list of places in the world to visit and photograph for decades. When I was granted a month-long sabbatical from my work as a pastor nearly three years ago, I knew the destination my wife and I wanted to go.
Refreshed by a great sleep after a long flight from the USA, this scene unfolded the very first morning of the week-long stay we had planned for the Dolomites before we moved on to other areas of Italy. Exploring the first of many switchback roads up through the mountains, I found a place to pull over for this view. After capturing the mist and fog swirling through the mountains and valleys, I knew the next 7 days were going to be glorious.
