During the winter months, Reflection Lake freezes over and remains ice-bound until late spring, and sometimes even early summer. As the ice begins to thaw, leads (cracks) develop in the surface, gradually revealing the reflection of Mount Rainier (Mount Tahoma), which attracts many visitors to this beautiful spot. On this particular evening, a glorious sunset illuminated the sky with shades of magenta, pink, and blue, all beautifully reflected in the emerging water and the remaining ice.
