I lived on the Gold Coast in Queensland for 25 years before developing an interest in photography, unaware of what lay beyond the city. After spending so long there, I returned to New Zealand with a camera and a desire to explore the places I had missed during my time away.
The location I found is quite popular—similar to the iconic Wanaka tree—but it offers plenty of space and time to compose and enjoy the scene. While there are limited compositions available, I managed to capture this one. The added bonus for me was the “overhanging greenery,” which beautifully softens the surrounding rocks.
