Nearly fifteen years ago, I relocated from Boston to California, and one of my first destinations was Yosemite National Park. This remarkable place holds a special spot in my heart and stands out as one of the few locations I’ve encountered that truly embodies a sense of awe. Although I don’t visit as often now, and it’s been years since my last trip, I recently made a spontaneous decision to spend the weekend there, securing a campsite in the national forest adjacent to the park.

After a day of hiking and exploring under an overcast sky, I made my way to Glacier Point for one last view of the valley before returning to my campsite for the night. As I approached the edge that drops into the valley, I climbed over a fence and wandered closer to the brink. I paused to observe the shifting clouds above. Just as the sun began to break through the clouds, I captured this photograph. Shadows largely concealed Half Dome on the left, while sunlight flooded the valley, illuminating Vernal and Sentinel Falls.
