I am a mature British photographer currently living in the city of Derby, UK, although I usually spend some time each year in southwest France.

Inspired by my father, who was also a keen photographer, I first began to take photography seriously in the 1970s when I bought a Russian-made film camera with manual focusing and no built-in light meter.
After a career move to Luton in the late 1980s, I joined Luton and District Camera Club where I was Programme Secretary and then Secretary for a brief period of time. In the late 1990s I treated myself to a short photographic workshop in the English Lake District which was a game-changer for me. Digital photography was in its infancy at that point in time, but after being given a demonstration of digital post-processing I immediately bought a desktop computer, film scanner and an early version of Adobe Photoshop so that I could start using that new technology.
My interest in photography waned somewhat over the following years and I have only recently gone back to it. The creative possibilities offered by the latest digital cameras and software excite me very much, particularly with regard to black and white images which I have always loved and which are my preferred output.
