Loch Ard is a freshwater loch located near Aberfoyle within the Great Forest of Loch Ard. It is a very popular spot for water sports, including kayaking, open water swimming, and paddle boarding.
I came across this scene while heading to Kinlochard Village, and it stopped me in my tracks. Subtle early morning light fell on the mountainside, forming a beautiful backdrop against the deep greens of the forest as winter passes into spring and the foliage starts to regenerate on the branches.
The rugged beauty of this area is often portrayed as an image of Scotland that captures the natural beauty of our land. I love the impression of isolation, yet one is so close to civilization—the peace and tranquillity and the ever-changing colours nature produces here will have me return again and again.
