I live about two hours from Rifle Falls. I had always heard it was worth visiting, and now that the snow melt is in full force, I finally made time.

The falls are a triad of three waterfalls over a high cliff. Rifle Falls State Park is well-visited due to its beauty. I loved watching the water cascade over the edge and the light play on the surface of the water.

I wanted to capture the details at the base of the falls and single out one aspect of them. I have always seen images of all three waterfalls in one frame, but I wanted something more intimate and personal. This was my capture.

I have named it ‘Light on Living Stones’ to try to capture the essence of the light on the water and how it dances on the rocks below as the water cascades down.
