In the spring of 2024, I spent a weekend at a cabin in the Catskill Mountain area of New York State. One of my goals was to photograph the waterfalls in the area. The largest of these falls is the 260-foot-high, double waterfall, Kaaterskill Falls. This landmark has been the epicenter of Catskills tourism since the early 1800s; thus, Kaaterskill Falls is the most popular and highly visited destination in the Catskill Park Forest Preserve.

The parking lot at the bottom of the falls has been closed due to safety concerns related to the amount of traffic on the windy road through the mountains, The result is that you have to park at a lot near the top of the falls and kike down to the bottom. The trail to the bottom of the falls contains a run of 860 stairs, built into he side of the ravine.
