Haystack Rock and the Needles are iconic locations on the Oregon Coast. This spot is only about 90 minutes from Portland, OR, so it is often busy, especially at sunset. However, on this cold early spring day, the sunset did not look promising, and there were very few people on the beach.

I decided to set up anyway and picked a spot where the sun would set between the sea stacks. For a brief time, the sun appeared between the rapidly moving clouds, and I was able to capture this image.
