Picture Story

Just on the outskirts of Sonoita, Arizona is breathtaking scenery that is dramatic during any season. In the late fall and winter, being able to camp and wander through the countryside is not only amazing, but compels you to find photographic opportunities. The views change throughout the day, with lone junipers, and endless sage, among dry riverbeds and golden-hued prairie grasses.

The evening sunset was quiet, almost a dimness of weightless light, moving to that hint of soft color. The mountains in this area all have incredible depth and individual personality, but the Mustang's curious curvy and rolling crests pulled my attention during this visit. I didn't wait for just that "right" moment, but took several pictures for over 15 minutes to get the one that I finally appreciated the most, when reviewing these photos later. I've come to really appreciate the subtle beauty of the desert southwest, and enjoy the fall and winter seasons most of all.
