Picture Story

I chose a bright winter's day to explore the end Lancaster Canal near the Lune estuary - an area I was unfamiliar with but potentially would provide some good photo opportunities. I was particularly struck by the strong line of the tow path edge contrasting with the lovely curve of the bridge over the canal. The biggest challenge was the exposure as the image had a large dynamic range. I wanted to be able to maintain the shadow detail of the underside of the bridge whilst not completely blowing out the sky. I chose to expose for the sky and thankfully I was able to recover the shadow detail in Lightroom.
