Picture Story

The Falkirk Wheel is the world’s first rotating boat lift and was designed to replace a series of lock gates built in the 19th century by lifting boats 115 ft to link the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal in central Scotland. The brightly lit arches, which can often change colour, were reflected perfectly in the calm water to form complete circles.
