These pinnacles, called Cathedral Rocks, tower 2,000 feet over Yosemite Valley on its south rim opposite El Capitan.
Slaughterhouse Meadow lies at their feet, so called because in days past it was difficult to deliver fresh meat to the residents and visitors of Yosemite. Cattle were brought from nearby valley meadows to a slaughterhouse located here to be killed and cut into meat. Today, the meadow is as you see it here, natural and beautiful and camera ready. This view is easy to access, situated as it is along the main one-way road that circles Yosemite Valley. I set up my tripod, waited for some good light, and clicked – one of the easiest catches ever in my photo creel.
