Picture Story

Look for the light in the darkness. You will find it in unexpected places. The image is titled “Dancer in the Forest”. It was taken during a hike in late autumn in the Bavarian Forest, near the Czech and Austrian border.

The forests in this region are typical mixed forests, mainly spruce pine interspersed with leafy trees such as birch or elm. The month of November, when this image was taken, is typically cold, very dark and gloomy. You feel very lucky when you find a spot of bright colors in the otherwise dreary landscape, such as this tree still holding onto its leaves.
