Picture Story

Antelope Canyon in Arizona is one of the most soul satisfying places I have ever experienced. The peaceful grounding energy of this place made me want to never leave. This is one of the many slot canyons in this area. The walls of the canyon are so close together that it feels like you are in a cave. Over thousands of years water and wind have carved out these canyons into an amazing swirl of curves and peaks.

At midday the sun can penetrate into the canyon lighting up the walls and producing amazing colours as the light bounces and reflects in the canyon.

There is not much light down at the canyon floor so I was forced to use a high iso and a low shutter speed. I wedged myself against the walls to eliminate as much camera shake as possible.

As a side note, this canyon is on Native American land so it is the indigenous people who take you on a tour through the slot canyon. Antelope canyon has become a very popular place so the tours are quite often full so it pays to book in advance. There is also a Photography tour which costs more but you can take a tripod with you which helps alot when it comes to the darker areas of the canyon. These tours fill up even faster so book well ahead!
