Willow Frame, Jasper County, Iowa, USA by Larry Mendenhall

The challenge of minimal photography in my home state of Iowa is that it's difficult to isolate subject matter. On this morning a thick bank of fog blotted out most of the background except for a timber area on the far side of a small lake. A willow tree provided an excellent framing element and the final look of the photograph was inspired by sumi-e painting.
