Picture Story

This summer trip was special. Our daughter was heading off to college in New York, and we wanted her to have an experience of the Italian Renaissance. One of the stops on the way was the beautiful city of Venice, Italy. Hearing about the view of the Grand Canal from Rialto Bridge, I headed there a few hours before sunset. To my dismay the the bridge was filled with tourists with barely any room to stand let alone setup a tripod.

Patience proved fruitful, as I was able to nestle in with my light Gitzo traveller tripod on the bridge itself and setup for the magnificent scene unfolding before me. As the evening sky settled into dusk, a few storm cloud filled the horizon, adding a dark moody atmosphere to the scene.

As the Venetian palaces lit up at night, the moment turned into pure magic. I will never forget this experience!
