While searching the beautiful Taylor Canyon area of western Colorado for shadows on fresh snow, I came upon this isolated pine tree at the base of an avalanche chute. The long shadows of the trees above seemed to threaten the single tree at the base of the hill.
Taylor Canyon is one of my favorite places to search for images, especially in the winter. It's only 20 miles from my home in Crested Butte, Colorado and gets very little traffic in the winter. I don't have many successful photos from the canyon but this one was worth all of my attempts.
