Picture Story

This iconic tree is probably one of the most photographed in Scottish Landscape Photography. ... Sitting on its own, and at times cooling its roots in the waters of Loch Lomond at Milarrochy Bay, to the north of Balmaha, the tree is a hugely popular subject and is a big magnet in bringing photographers to Scotland. Living not too far from Loch Lomond gives both my lovely partner and myself the opportunity to pick and chose when we visit and when the weather is favourable with us and what images we have in our mind and hope to achieve. The tree itself is right opposite the car park making it purely a waiting game until the crowds lessen, the light tickles your fancy and the composition is right for you as an individual.
