Picture Story

The hike to this peak quickly became one of my favorite trails in Colorado. I planned this trip late in the winter so that I could get a permit for camping and get this shot. I had seen some photos of this area and told myself I had to go there. We got to the top around lunch time and got rained on most the day. Right before sunset, the clouds broke and the last of the daylight illuminated the peak. Getting the entire peak and reflection in the frame would have been impossible without an ultra wide angle lens or a vertical panorama.

I tried editing this photo many times with color and the photo just screamed black and white to me. I really like this shot because it looks interesting upside down and it could be framed either way.
