Picture Story

Every year since 1981 a bunch of good friends share the last week of September and visit the North coast of Scotland. We are, and were, all keen surfers, so it was a surf pilgrimage rather than a photographic expedition. As time has gone on photography has become an important part of this trip, as surf is never predictable, resulting in lots of spare time during the week.

This year the weather was exceptional particularly the first half of the week. It is a long drive of 530 miles from North Wales and Dornoch is around 400 of them. We stay here on most trips for the first evening. Early next morning I was up long before the sun rose and was on the beach checking out the low tide rocks. This picture was one of many on the morning. 6 stop to smooth out the water and great shadows on the sand.
