I had driven past this tree a thousand times and thought "I must get a shot that one of these days" without ever carrying through with actually doing anything about it. Then, on my home late one afternoon, I noticed a small storm brewing over the hills. For once, I didn't have my camera with me but, as I was only 5 minutes away from home I decided to see if I could get there and back before the storm broke. As it turned out the storm didn't develop but, by the time I returned the setting sun shining through what remained of the storm clouds produced some amazing light that comes along once in a blue moon. I learned a couple of lessons from this. Firstly, always carry your camera and secondly, don't give up on the shot. Sometimes the image you finish up with is nothing like what you set out to achieve but better.
