A blast from the past, this book displays many colourful images of UK landscapes captured on medium format cameras and Fuji Velvia film. In this day and age of digital photography, however, can this book hold its ground and make it worth the purchase? David Hay has the review

This book is essentially a portfolio of the work of the photographer Barry Payling. It is a collection of mainly landscape photographs taken around the UK, interspersed with a few pages of the thoughts and philosophy of the photographer himself. His approach and personal style is best described by his use of the term ‘pure photography’. In essence, this involves using transparency film without any filters.
