Gear Test: Cotton Carrier

There are a variety of camera carrying systems on the market with many of them promising comfort and safety. Deborah Hughes tested the Cotton Carrier camera vest. The question is, was it up to her expectations?

Like many budding landscape photographers, I geared up for the long haul when I purchased my first DSLR – a backpack full of filters, extra batteries, a sturdier tripod, and a little red rain jacket for the new baby. I headed out on my first hike, each item safely tucked into the padded pack, my camera hanging from my neck. After a few months of these pack animal treks, I had to rethink my carrying capacity in between trips to a massage therapist.

A fanny pack, a mailbag, a many-pocketed vest all failed to meet my needs. I resorted to traveling with one lens at a time which helped to reduce overall weight, but the camera still…
