Many of the landscape photographs I see in camera club competitions have been taken on the spur of the moment. Perhaps when the photographer was out for a run in the car, or had just climbed up to a viewpoint, the urge to record the ‘view’ occurred. A quick snap captured the moment. Later a camera club judge suggests cropping large bits off their lovely picture to ‘tighten up the composition’.
