Plateau de Bure, Hautes Alpes, France

I climbed up to Plateau de Bure with the intention of shooting star trails around the north star combined with one of six astronomic array (parabole). I shot 22-images at five minutes each before the camera batteries died in both my D700 and attached battery grip, then combined all images using a special star trails stackers program I found on the web that leaves no gaps in the trails. This program in my opinion works much better than the statistics script for stacking star trails photos in Photoshop CS5.

You can read more about it here: http://blog.joergbonner.net/2012/06/deserts-sky.html
