Wild camping can be seen as a way to help you make better landscape images during sunrise. However, it is much more than that and it can be a breath taking experience. Paul Allen has some excellent advice to share
Imagine that you have toiled up a hillside in the dark and pitched your tent near the summit; gone to bed not knowing quite what is awaiting you when you wake, but sensed that it will be something pretty special. It is now 5 a.m. and your senses are coming together; your brain is trying to work out frantically where you are and, then, you remember you are in your tent, perched on a wild summit with a big view waiting for you outside. You cannot hear any rain or even the wind. Suddenly it is like being a kid on Christmas morning and you cannot wait to take a peek out of the tent. You roll over, unzip the door and poke your nose out to take in your surroundings.
Wild camping in the hills is an experience that is simple and yet so fulfilling. It takes you out of your everyday life and makes you focus on simple, enjoyable experiences as watching the light change as the sun goes down or even just making a cup of tea. Even if you have pitched your tent in daylight the night before and had a good time shooting a sunset, the feeling of waking up in a remote spot with just you, some friends and a lot of views bathed in early morning light, never fails to inspire.
